I'm a proud supporter of the Pan Mass Challenge because it is leading the charge to beat cancer.
Cancer has touched all of our lives. As many of you know, I ride in memory of my mother, Elaine Bates, who passed away in 2003 after a brave 9 year battle with Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma as well as for all of the others throughout my life who have been affected by and currently struggle with Cancer. To this day my mother is an inspiration to me. Her example helped to teach me how to be the best person I can be. Her selflessness, care, empathy, and love for others is something I can only hope to come close to continuing to carry forward in my life. To be able to do this in her memory every year holds a special place in my heart, but I wouldn't be able to do it without the love and support of all of you.
With Summer just around the corner I'm excited for good times with friends and family, great weather, and, in what is now a yearly tradition for me, a 2 day ride across Massachusetts to help raise awareness and money to fight cancer for Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Over the past 7 years, with the loving support of all of you I have been fortunate enough to raise over $55,000. This year we are taking it up a notch, doing the full 2-day ride from Sturbridge to Provincetown, aiming for 187 miles over two days. As the PMC approaches the $1 billion mark, your support is as crucial as ever.
The PMC raises more money for charity than any other single event in the country, $972 million since 1980 and $72 million in 2023 alone! This success is the result of a lot of people riding for, and caring about, a cure. And because every penny matters, 100 percent of your donation goes to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Dana-Farber has been recognized as one of the top three cancer centers in the world. When you contribute to my ride, you are funding the leading edge of cancer treatment and cures.
