Dear Family, Friends and Colleagues,
PMC 2024 is right around the corner!! I am looking forward to the ride, but also to the spirit and comradery of the riders, volunteers, and well-wishers along the route! I have said it many times, but it is worth repeating: spending two days with thousands of riders all working together for a common cause demonstrates the very best of who we can be as a community.
For over a decade, Team-Path-to-the Cure has been raising funds to specifically support pediatric cancer research at the Dana-Faber. This year, our team will again be supporting the Pediatric Hematologic Malignancy Research Program. This program supports the development of new treatments for children and young adults with leukemia or lymphoma. Unfortunately, there remain real challenges in developing more efficacious and less toxic therapies. This is particularly true for children with high-risk malignancies. Our program develops novel therapeutic strategies and administers innovative treatments to children for the first time. We open these trials at multiple pediatric cancer centers across the United States to bring these novel therapies closer to the patients in need.
Our PMC-supported Venetoclax clinical trial is up and running and has enrolled nearly a dozen patients with high risk leukemias and myelodysplastic syndrome (a closely related illness). The funds raised by the PMC are critical to getting these sites open and providing novel therapies to children closer to where they live.
Our team’s goal for PMC 2024 is to raise $150,000 to expand this trial to even more hospitals and to support the continued development of novel early phase trials.
I hope you will consider donating to my ride!
Thanks!
Andy
