I’m excited to be riding my 28th Pan Mass Challenge this August, raising money for cancer research and treatment. It's hard to believe that the year I started riding the Pan Mass Challenge, Bill Clinton was President, the movie Titanic was a box office smash, and Google had just been founded. My bald spot was substantially smaller, and my hair less gray.

I'll be starting the PMC in Sturbridge again - and hoping for not-so-hot and dry weather. I'm looking forward to seeing the 6000 other riders - including many cancer survivors, and many who are older and have cycled the PMC for more years than I have.

This will be my fifth year on the Ekip Onkoloji team, which raises funds for the Center for Global Cancer Medicine. This Center, a collaboration of the Dana Farber Cancer Institute and Partners in Health, offers free cancer care in both Haiti and Rwanda, and is focused on improving cancer care in low resource environments. The care delivered by the Center is often the only available cancer care in many communities, and their research helps improve cancer care not only in the developing countries, but in the US as well.
