WRC Team Rick is riding in memory of Rick who died in May of 2010. Rick was diagnosed with a brain tumor in March of 2004 on his 44th birthday. He courageously battled through brain surgery, radiation and chemotherapy but lost his battle to brain cancer after a six year fight. Rick was a husband/father/brother/friend. A giant teddy bear of a man, he lived a life filled with love and laughter. He was someone who made the world a better place by having been in it and is missed by all.
The Wurm Recreation Club (WRC), formerly the Wurm Running Club, is a group of family and friends who joined together over 20 years ago to Run/Drink Beer/Do Good! Over the years we’ve transitioned to more of a Run/Walk/Ride club and increased our support of charities, especially those raising funds for cancer care/research (the Gallery has pics of some of our bigger events). We hope by raising money for cancer care/research others with this terrible diagnosis can live longer, healthier lives alongside their families!
The PMC's hope and aspiration is to provide Dana-Farber Cancer Institute's doctors and researchers with the necessary resources to discover cures for all cancers. Although WRC Team Rick started raising money for cancer research in Rick's memory, through the years this family/team effort has grown to remember/support all the others whose lives have been affected by cancer...those battling, those lost, their loved ones and caregivers. 100% of rider-raised revenue goes directly to support the Jimmy Fund and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute's tireless commitment to finding a cure. Every donation, no matter how small, brings them closer to this goal. Together, we will get closer by the mile to a world without cancer.
Company Matching Gifts are much appreciated if available!
