Ken Surdan | $0.00 |
Michelle Surdan | $50.00 |
Team Morris looks much different for the second year because there are no riders named Morris participating. Yet the team name will remain in honor of Paul Morris who started this effort in 1992 riding in memory of his beloved mom who lost a vicious battle with cancer at the age of 62. That single act of love 32 years ago transformed the pain of her suffering into a tradition of joy, hope, and celebration for friends and families who ride for loved ones they lost -- or for the lucky ones saved by cancer research. From Paul's solo ride, an amazing legacy was born.
Inspired by Paul, siblings Jim, Dave and John and Sue trained and joined the team. Brother-in-law Al, niece Kara, wife Suzanne and son Michael have all done the same.
Paul's good friend Ken Surdan (affectionately known as Cancer-Dan-ask him the story!) joined Paul 31 years ago. That first year Kathleen was pregnant with Jackie so the Surdan kids have never known their dad to not ride the PMC. Michelle got hooked on the event in 2017 and will pedal for the seventh time this year. Alex joined in a few years as well and is riding again this year. Ken's sister-in-law Maureen was also a rider, as well as several friends of team members.
Mike Perry, Michelle's close friend and an honorary Surdan kid, joined the team in 2022 . Mike did a great job riding and fundraising the past two summers and will be on his bike again this year. Last year the team rookie was Nick Mills, Ken's best friend Jon's son and a favorite cousin of the Surdan kids. Nick drove up from New Jersey to participate and will be with the team in spirit this year.
That makes us a team of four very commited individuals who will support one another in what is sure to be a long, hot ride.
Over the years, Team Morris has raised over $1 million to support cancer research and treatment. Many donors faithfully support us every year which means so much to us. Every penny of donations goes directly to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
Your kindness and generosity has sustained and inspired us all since Paul's first ride in 1992. We hope you can share that love again this year.
