In our 9th annual PMC ride, Ekip Onkoloji will be using the funds we raise to support our oncology work in Rwanda and Haiti. We have been supporting the provision of cancer care in Rwanda and Haiti for 10 years and have been working tirelessly to strengthen and grow the programs and services available. Our team consists of nurses, physicians, pathologists, technicians, surgeons, nursing assistants, research staff, and many more. The funds we raise through the PMC will help us continue to strengthen our oncology services.
Dana-Farber’s Center for Global Cancer Medicine (CGCM) provides cancer care in under-resourced settings to patients who otherwise would have no chance of surviving their diagnosis. By working in tandem with PIH and many other academic and medical partnerships, the CGCM has helped establish high-quality cancer programs in both Haiti and Rwanda. All of the money our team raises will go directly to the Dana-Farber CGCM which supports the PIH Oncology Program.
We are a group of riders committed to addressing cancer in some of the most resource-poor areas of the world. With more than half of the global cancer burden occurring in low-and middle-income countries—yet only 5% of resources are being used there— we are attempting to bridge the gap between those who have access to care and those who don’t.
Our goal is to raise $32,000 together to accomplish this for cancer patients in Rwanda and Haiti.
Please consider donating to our team and join us in fighting the battle against global cancer. Feel free to check out our individual pages to learn more about our personal stories and motivation for riding in this year’s PMC.
