In 2015, I rode my first PMC in honor of my mother who was in the middle of her fight to get well. Nearly three years ago, I received even more motivation as my father-in-law Gene was diagnosed with colon cancer just before Thanksgiving 2017. More recently, my daughter's ski racing teammate was dignosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma and is in the middle of her chemotherapy treatment. Thankfully, The Dana-Farber Cancer Institute was there for all of them. In fact, Gene's oncologist (plus many more DFCI staff) is a PMC rider himself!
In addition to the experience my family has with Dana Farber, I've heard directly from physicians who are doing amazing research that is leading to new treatments that are extending and even saving lives. I've met patients who have realized the benefits of Dana-Farber research and treatment. And again this year, I have friends with children being treated at the Jimmy Fund Clinic today.
The money makes a difference, and during the COVID-19 pandemic, the support is as important as ever.
Please support the Dana Farber Cancer Institute with a donation to my fundraising page: http://www2.pmc.org/profile/MN0107.
My goal is to exceed $5,000 again this year, and ideally go beyond that to help offset the inevitable reduction in fundraising due to the pandemic. Crucially, the PMC commits every single dollar directly to the institute to fund cutting-edge science, important improvements patient care, new equipment, and attracting the best doctors in the world. There's no cut for overhead here.
I ask you to please give as generously as you can. If this is not the year for you to give, I ask for your good wishes, love, and support as I ride again for this great cause.
