Why I Ride ...
Dear Friends,
This year will be my 5th consecutive year as a Pan Mass Challenge rider. In a typical year, I would be joining 6,000+ other cyclists on Aug. 1-2 to ride in the 41st annual Pan-Mass Challenge (PMC) Ride from Sturbridge, MA to Provincetown, MA - 190 miles in 2 days!! As we all know and have experienced, 2020 is anything but a typical year. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this year's ride will be reimagined. Social distancing rules prevent us from riding as a group. Nonetheless every rider, myself included, remain committed to our goal of delivering a substantial gift to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute this fall. So on Aug 1 - 2, we will ride together in spirit and mission in our individual home towns. 100% of rider-raised revenue goes directly to support the Jimmy Fund (http://www.jimmyfund.org/) and the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (http://www.dana-farber.org/About-Us/Mission-and-Values.aspx), two incredible organizations that have made a tireless commitment to finding a cure for adult and pediatric cancer.
We can't let COVID-19 take our eye off the ball in the cancer fight. It's too important. I am dedicating this year's ride to a friend and former colleague who recently lost his battle with cancer. I have committed to raising a minimum of $4400 and have set a personal goal of $9500. I ask for your support and donation in helping me reach (or exceed!) my fundraising goal and in making an impact on cancer treatment and finding a cure. If you supported me last year - THANK YOU!! - I hope I can count on your support and donation again this year. If you didn't have a chance to donate last year, I ask for your support this year - ANY amount moves me closer to my fundraising goal for this incredible organization.
