18 years ago, I purchased my first bike, discovered to my horror that 'real cyclists' clipped into their pedals instead of using straps to secure their feet, overcame my innate objection to cycling clothing, and signed up to do the PMC in honor of a customer of mine. Little did I know that summer as I fumbled through training rides, bonked, and tipped over while simply standing still how much the PMC and cycling would become central to my life.
Riding in the PMC is an honor - a gift I cherish. It's my chance to step off the sidelines and take action in the fight to find a cure. Each cancer story I hear feels personal to me, fueling my drive to keep pedaling & fundraising. 18 years represents 18 years of memories, team sheamnigans, thousands of miles, and sadly, more and more stories of people fighting cancer.
Here's the thing: the credit for my 18 years belongs to you. I have never done this ride alone because I have always had the support of so many people, year after year. I am humbled by each donation, and cannot thank each of you enough for your on-going generosity. I am proud to share that YOU have helped me raise over $250,000 since I first started pedaling.
While there have been remarkable advances made in cancer research and treatment, the fight is not even close to being over. We need your help.
Please join me this year in the fight to find a cure.
The PMC raises more money for charity than any other single event in the country. This success is the result of a lot of people riding for, and caring about, a cure. And because every penny matters, 100 percent of your donation goes to DFCI.
I've made a personal commitment to ride and raise $20,000. This year is the perfect year to donate. Our team, Team Crank, is blessed to have a matching grant up to $500,000. Every dollar donated will be matched.
This year, I am targeting my fundraising to Claudia Adams Barr Program.
I hope you can help me achieve this significant goal.
