Why I Ride ...
Dear family and friends,
On Saturday morning, August 5th I will be starting a 2 day 192 mile bicycle ride from Sturbridge to Bourne known as the Pan Mass Challenge. This purpose of this ride is to raise not just money but awareness for the need of continuing cancer research. The financial beneficiaries of the ride are the Jimmy Fund and the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, both of which make a tremendous difference in the lives of cancer patients not only here in New England but throughout the world. The Jimmy Fund is the primary fundraising arm of the Dana Farber Cancer Institute and The Pan Mass Challenge has raised over $598 million dollars over the past 38 years. Last year we presented a check for $51 million dollars to the Jimmy Fund and our goal this year is to exceed that figure. You should also know that 100% of your donation goes directly to cancer research.
This will be my 14th year riding in the PMC . The passion of everyone involved in this event is extraordinary and I'm proud to be apart of it.
It is truly frightening to stop and think of all those we know whose lives have been affected by cancer, and it is easy to feel helpless. Raising money to fund research is the most effective means I can think of to fight back.
Won't you please help us in reaching our fundraising goal? As I train with my fellow Team Lick Cancer members our temporary discomfort is inconsequential as we reflect on loved ones who have courageously battled cancer. Some have won the battle and others have not. Unfortunately cancer will never be completely eradicated but it can be fought and beaten. To do this takes money and I am asking for your support by making a donation to the Jimmy Fund. You can give online here by making an eGift on my web link (please make sure my name and eGift id of GH0034 is on the form) or you can mail a check, made out to the PMC, to me at 15 Priest Lane, Littleton, Ma 01460.
Thank you very much for your consideration of this request.
Sincerely,
Geoff Hadley
