I'm a proud supporter of the PMC because it is leading a charge to beat cancer. In fact, last year 100% of rider-raised revenue went directly to support the Jimmy Fund and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute's tireless commitment to finding a cure.
I am riding in memory of my brother, Peter, who lost his battle with non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma in 1999 after a very short and difficult battle. He was only 39 at the time; to me it seemed too young. As the years have passed, his memory has not faded. He missed watching his step-children grow up, get married and have families of their own. He missed his nieces and nephews growing up, the birth of my son, Kevin, the many high school and college graduations that we've experienced as a family.
I am riding in memory of my sister-in-law, Cindy. She beat breast cancer at 28 and then endured a four plus year battle with Stage IV rectal cancer. She was a fighter. But as many know, years of chemotherapy and immunotherapy and other treatments, can eventually take its toll. She lost her fight this past fall.
I am riding for the many other people in my life and in the lives of those who I care about who are bravely facing their own cancer fight.
