Why I Ride ...
I will ride in my 21st PMC this August. The PMC is a special and unique event; it enables folks; riders, donors and volunteers to turn their grief, sadness, compassion and anger toward cancer and the people it affects into a powerful and positive force focused on finding a cure for cancer and improving treatrment and care for cancer patients.
I want to share with my sponsors how amazing the event is.. thousands of cyclists, thousands more volunteers, thousands of donors and thousands of well wishers along the routes; even our own lane over the Bourne Bridge Sunday morning. I believe that we all rest in the shade of trees planted by others. This idea is made so clear during the PMC - volunteers toting luggage, well wishers along the route, sometimes with signs - Thanks to you I'm a survivor - make the next hill a little less grueling. Over the years I have watched Jack, once a little kid on his Dad's shoulders at the Nickerson water stop with his signs grow up . He is a powerful reminder to me of the good that the PMC accomplishes.
I am once again working on molding my derriere into the perfect reverse shape of the seat of my bike, racking up training miles and thinking of family and friends who have been touched by cancer.
Thank you for your generosity and support.
