In August I will be participating in my first Pan-Mass Challenge! I will spend the next few months fundraising and training to prepare to ride 192 miles from Sturbridge, MA to Provincetown, MA for this worthy cause that has helped so many.
What is the PMC?
The Pan-Mass Challenge® (PMC) is a bike-a-thon that today raises more money for charity than any other single athletic fundraising event in the country. Benefiting the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, the PMC pioneered the $4 billion athletic fundraising industry when it was founded in 1980 by Billy Starr, who remains the event’s executive director, an annual cyclist and a fundraiser. The PMC donates 100 percent of every rider-raised dollar directly to Dana-Farber and is the institute’s largest single contributor, raising more than 52 percent of the annual revenue at The Jimmy Fund®. The PMC has raised more than a half-billion dollars for adult and pediatric cancer care and research at Dana-Farber since 1980. In 2017, the PMC gave a record gift of $51 million and was honored as Program of the Year by the Peer-to-Peer Professional Forum.
Why I ride...
I ride to use my strength to help those who cannot. I am grateful to be healthy and challenge myself on this 192 mile PMC that brings researchers closer to finding a cure. I ride to encourage friends, family, and colleagues in the midst of their courageous battles, and to memorialize those that have lost the fight but gained peace.
Our Team:
Our team has four members! Tom Fergus, Anne Burnham, Connor Lund, and I will ride as a team!
RIDE FOR A CURE
Please join me in the fight against cancer by donating in support of my ride. Even if it is only $5, any donation you can provide puts the Jimmy Fund and the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute closer to finding a cure. I hope that you will cheer on our team and the thousands of other riders along the PMC course in August and I thank you for helping to increase hope and progress by providing your support!
